Like GSpot, MediaInfo is a small utility providing detailed information about the codec used in an audio or video file. There are many codecs recognized : MP3, Matroska, OGG, WMA, WMV, QuickTime, MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4, Real Media, AAC, AIFF…

It user interface is really straightforward : select a file or a folder containing audio/video files and let it scan the files. The result can then be displayed in several ways : table, tree, raw text or as a HTML page. The data can also be exported as text, HTML or CSV.

MediaInfo is free and open source software (GPL or LGPL licence).
